People often like to make fun of me after I wanted to move to Madeira, Quebec, Prague (and as mentioned in my previous articles), and the list goes on. To be honest, I’ve wanted to leave Glastonbury a thousand times since 2017, because the energy there is so intense. It’s like being in a washing machine regularly.
And in the end, I chose the van life, but to work on my perfumes and elixirs, I need a place, and that place could be Ireland. Everything that ties me to Glastonbury, I also find in this new country.
What are the advantages and disadvantages?
When you think of Ireland, the image of a fairyland, where nature reigns supreme, immediately comes to mind. It’s this deep connection with the land, but also with its people. Ireland is much more than just a territory, it’s an inspiring, poetic place deeply respectful of its environment.
A nature that is omnipresent and respected
In Ireland, nature is not just a backdrop; it is respected, protected, and an integral part of daily life. Whether it’s the vast green expanses or the wild coastlines, every corner seems inhabited by nature spirits.
Ireland aims to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 51% by 2030 and to reach carbon neutrality by 2050.
A rich and vibrant Celtic culture
Celtic heritage is everywhere in Ireland. This strong, mystical culture inspires both locals and travelers. It resonates within me, adding a magical touch to every village, every standing stone. Living in Ireland means immersing yourself in an ancient yet still vibrant culture, which nurtures the imagination and offers spiritual grounding.
Between two worlds: Geographic and economic flexibility
Ireland is unique due to its proximity to the UK, but also its dual cultural and economic identity. On this island, I can straddle two worlds: the Republic of Ireland with the euro and kilometers, and Northern Ireland with the pound sterling and miles, all while navigating between two distinct political systems. This flexibility is invaluable in many respects, especially for business operations.
A modern and eco-friendly work environment
Ireland is also a pioneer in ecological consciousness and innovation. Many companies adopt green practices, especially with plastic-free shipping and recycled materials. Additionally, shared laboratories in coworking spaces allow for creation and compliance with European regulations, while benefiting from a strong business network. It’s no coincidence that giants like Google, Apple, and Microsoft have their European headquarters here.
A peaceful and welcoming country
In 2023, Ireland ranked 2nd in the Global Peace Index, making it one of the most peaceful countries in the world. This ranking is based on criteria such as crime, political violence, and political stability. This tranquility is reflected in the daily lives of the Irish, who are warm and welcoming, with a particular affection for the French. This sense of calm
